Bridge and Tunnel

It was the summer of 2006 and the world was in the midst World Cup fever. Felipe Calderon was elected president of Mexico, Astoria, Queens was without electricity for ten days straight, and we had our first practice. We were in our mid twenties, products of the suburbs of Long Island, and holders of brand new degrees that we had no idea what to do with. What we did know was music (kind of). We had all been in bands, sometimes together, sometimes not. You might have even heard of one or two, but most were never heard by more than Jon Berg and a few friends. So we decided to start a new band. We figured “why not?” We still had shit to say and we all thought each other’s jokes were pretty damn funny. Isn’t that reason enough? So we practiced in a space down the road from a mall named after Walt Whitman and complained about having to go to work in the morning. Eventually we played our first show under the name Bridge and Tunnel on February 3rd 2007 at ABC No Rio in New York City. Those were our Wonder Years.
